Bobbi Block (Producing Artistic Director and Founder) performs with Barrymore Award Recipient ComedySportz, where she was co-producer and education director for fifteen years and artistic director for two. In addition, Bobbi performed longform improv with LunchLady Doris for twelve years and with the interdisciplinary improv group Playback Philadelphia for four years. For the 2007 Philly Live Arts Festival, she conceived and directed LEAP: The Actors’ Improv Experiment, in which she trained veteran, award-winning scripted actors in the art of improv. Bobbi is the recipient of the 2008 City Paper Award “Actress Who will Lead Improv to the Promised Land.”
Bobbi studied with master improvisers at renowned theatre centers such as The Second City, ImprovOlympic, the Annoyance Theatre, Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, and the New Actors Workshop. Bobbi has a master’s degree in theatre, teaches Improvisation at Temple University and Drexel University, and has taught improv at The University of the Arts, University of Pennsylvania, Villanova University, Bucks County Community College, the Wilma Theater, the Walnut Street Theatre, Philadelphia Young Playwrights, ComedySportz, Philly Improv Theater (PHIT), and in private classes.
Bobbi has taught improvisational theater internationally, including Brazil, Holland, Belgium, Germany, and, most recently, New Zealand. She has taught T&G's signature format, SECRETS, which is being performed by theater companies in Rio de Janeiro, Amsterdam, and Wellington, NZ.
